DCO Kilmore Monument walk
Some of our DCO Kilmore team walked the infamous Monument walk yesterday with one of our old team members Emily who has moved on from DCO into her career purpose as a support worker with participants some of which have experienced domestic violence. Thanks Em for walking with us!!! ๐งก๐งก๐งกยSHE DID IT!!
Lucy ran 21kms yesterday in just under 2.5hrs for Beyond Blue but also recording those Kms for this challenge. We are so proud of our Lucy ๐งกยKilmore weather ๐ง
The weather has not been in our favour here in Kilmore for the first 2 days of our 16 day challenge but that hasn't stopped us completely!Mitchell Shire CEO Brett Luxford media release
Mitchell Shire Council CEO Brett Luxford said as a community, we are committed to raising awareness and taking action against gender-based violence,
โThe 16 Days of Activism is a vital opportunity for us to unite, educate, and empower everyone to speak out against violence in all its forms,โ he said.
โFamily violence is not just a personal issue; it is a community issue. By standing together during these 16 Days of Activism, we send a powerful message that we will not tolerate violence against anyone. Everyone deserves to feel safe.
โWe all have a right to feel safe, have equal access to support and live a life free from violence. We all have a role to play in the prevention of violence against women and this starts with respect.
โRespect is shown in many forms such as building equitable and healthy relationships, calling out mates who have said something harmful and making it clear that all forms of violence are unacceptable.
โAs a community, we can change attitudes and behaviours that support environments that allow violence to thrive.
โWe invite all members of our community to participate in events during 16 Days of Activism.
โTogether, we can take meaningful steps toward change and show that we stand united in our commitment to ending violence.โ
The very real & shameful statistics
