This is for women and girls everywhere....

Hi family and friends, from November 25th, I’m going to be walking for a cause that is close to my heart.

Every woman and girl around the world, deserves to feel Safe. Everywhere. Always. – at home, at the gym, even online - and that is why I’m joining UN Women Australia in the walk to end violence against women and girls.

Help me reach my fundraising goal and we can help to build a better future for women and girls around the world.

Make Australia a safe place for women

Saturday 23rd Nov
The particularly horrific news of the death of Isla Bell has been deeply upsetting for many people this week in Melbourne. On Friday November 22nd, thousands of people marched against gender-based violence in the Melbourne CBD in support of Respect Victoria and in solidarity with Isla Bell's family and friends. But Isla's death is not a one-off occurrence here in Melbourne. Currently in Australia, 1 woman is being killed every 4 days. In fact, women are regularly being assaulted and killed by their current or former partners to the point that it has been declared a national crisis and an epidemic — and the numbers keep rising each year.

I am participating in the United Nations Australia 'Safe Everywhere Always' Campaign because I want to do my part to make Australia a safe place to be a woman. I also want to ensure that funds are directed to the right places where they are direly needed in Australia right now. Programs that address gender-based violence provide emergency housing and safe steps programs for women who are escaping violent situations. Funds are also used to create much needed men's adjustment programs to educate men on women's rights and freedoms and rehabilitate violent offenders.

Please donate to my fundraiser to help stop violence against women. Australian women can't keep living this way. We need more programs in place, stricter laws passed and more community support. Things must change!

Sincerely,
Kate Felton
